Bourne-based house-builder and development organisation Larkfleet Group (www.larkfleetgroup.co.uk) continues to invest in the future of the construction industry with its latest intake of young apprentices.
As part of a CITB (Construction Industry Training Board) apprenticeship scheme, Larkfleet is helping three young budding construction students gain invaluable experience whilst they study.
All three apprentices will work with Larkfleet’s sub-contractors on Larkfleet developments across the East of England and East Anglia.
Jack Richardson, 18, from Holbeach, is studying plumbing at the College of West Anglia and will work with Mick Yould Plumbing & Heating Supply, based in Spalding.
Matthew King, 17, from Bourne, is studying carpentry at New College Stamford and will be working with Belmont Carpenters (UK) Ltd from Spalding.
Steven Prentice, 18, from Stamford, is studying bricklaying at Grantham College and will work with CHM Builders from Wisbech.
The CITB apprenticeship scheme combines studying at college with on-site experience over a two to three year period. As part of their apprenticeships, the students will achieve an NVQ or SVQ qualification in their chosen study subject.
Larkfleet chief executive Karl Hick commented: “Larkfleet is committed to investing in the future of young people and has been running construction apprenticeships for many years. I am delighted that we are able to help these students gain on-site experience and expertise, which will give them an excellent start to their careers in construction.”
Larkfleet is also currently employing three local graduates across its group of companies, providing local young businessmen with business experience.
Graduates Tom Kelly from Stamford and Angus Riddel and Craig Templeman from Peterborough are working with directors of Larkfleet Group on a variety of projects in order to gain knowledge and insight into how a successful business operates.
Larkfleet Group comprises several companies that have a joint focus and established expertise in many areas of sustainability. The group provides high quality, energy-efficient housing, domestic and large scale energy saving technologies, and renewable energy generation projects, whilst investing in the future sustainability of the construction industry.
