Larkfleet Group's charity donation provides Kenyan School with electricity

Earlier this year two Larkfleet Group companies, housebuilder Larkfleet Homes and builders merchant Deepings Building and Plumbing Supplies, joined forces to provide a primary school in Africa with electricity.

The two companies worked with Friends of Nyansakia, a Bourne-based charity that regularly raises funds to help an impoverished community in Nyansakia, Kenya.

Friends of Nyansakia asked Larkfleet to help provide St Thomas’ Primary School in Nyansakia – which has approximately 1,000 pupils – with electricity in its classrooms.

Larkfleet Homes and Deepings Building and Plumbing Supplies were happy to provide the £470 required as a joint donation and are now delighted to learn how electricity is improving school life.

Classrooms at the school are now provided with electricity which allow pupils to work at the school before and after daylight hours, something they struggle to do outside school as none of their homes have electricity.

Larkfleet Group CEO, Karl Hick, commented: “We have worked with Friends of Nyansakia on several occasions now, and it is a pleasure to support a local organisation that is doing so much for this community in Kenya. It is great to hear how much of a positive impact the electricity provision in St Thomas’ Primary School is having on everyday school life.”

Larkfleet Group is a privately-owned award-winning housebuilding and development company. It is a major developer of sustainable energy projects and a provider of energy-efficiency improvements for new and existing buildings.
