The closing date for a competition in which community groups can get a share of a £5,000 grant is just days away – applications need to be submitted by 15 November 2016.
The money is coming from the Larkfleet Community Fund for the village of Eye, set up by housebuilder Larkfleet Homes.
The fund is running a competition to give away £2,500 to each of two community groups or charities which deliver the best projects that benefit and involve local people.
The competition will be run in conjunction with the Cambridgeshire Community Foundation which manages the fund. It is open to any charity or non-profit organisation.
The proposed projects must include a high level of community involvement and must be able to be delivered in the first six months of 2017.
Larkfleet has previously made a series of grants totalling over £2,000 through the Larkfleet Community Fund to charitable projects in Eye such as Eye Brownies, Eye Community Runners and the George Matthews Friendship Club. The company hopes the new competition will have another positive impact on the village.
Karl Hick, Larkfleet CEO, said: “We felt that a competition would be a fantastic way of choosing projects to receive the next round of funds. The judges are looking forward to seeing the eventual winning projects come to fruition in the first half of next year.
“The aim of the Larkfleet Community Fund is to offer communities opportunities to receive financial support for projects and causes that deliver at the local level.”
A panel of judges will choose two winners which will each receive £2,500 in prize-money. The results will be announced in December.
